Eco Fascist

Eco Fascist, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi remains in office temporarily. Tuesday, he survived a confidence vote without a verb with a narrow majority. In the House of Deputies voted 314 for and 311 against Berlusconi. In the Senate, the result was as had been expected: 162 senators support the Prime Minister and 135 against.

In May 2008, Berlusconi was elected prime minister for the fourth time since 1994. His coalition government, consisting of his party, People of Freedom (PDL), and the xenophobic Northern League, had the majority in both houses of parliament.

However, the impact of the global economic crisis is rapidly undermining the Berlusconi government. After Greece, the public debt in Italy is the second highest in the European Union. Youth unemployment is 25 percent, and 8 million of the 60 million Italians live on less than 800 € per month.

Faced with this crisis, the government has been largely paralyzed and fell off a scandal to another. Allegations of corruption and involvement in the empire of Silvio Berlusconi’s media mafia, who had kept his old government in limbo, were followed by scandals involving S-EX- with minors 74 years and Berlusconi, who has dominated the headlines for weeks. The pile of garbage in Naples, which, in the election Berlusconi promised to eliminate, accumulate still higher.

In the ranks of his supporters Berlusconi was increasingly losing support. Representatives of leading companies have turned their backs on him. The president of the Industrialists’ Association, “Emma Marcegaglia, attacked publicly. His predecessor, Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari CEO, said:” After 15 years of waiting, its time to end this one- man show. ”

Ultimately, Parliament Speaker Gianfranco Fini led the opposition. In 2009, the former fascist Alleanza Nazionale had merged its (AN) with Berlusconi’s party. Now he saw his chances of becoming bland successor to Berlusconi, and decided to rebel. In the summer of 2010, he and 36 of its members broke with the ruling party, founded his own band called “The future and freedom for Italy” (FLI), depriving Berlusconi of his majority in the House representatives.

After some hesitation, FLI Fini also filed a motion of censure. What followed was a dirty fight that is unprecedented in Italy. The Berlusconi camp allegedly bribed two members with € 500 000, has promised another order for a company and its fourth seat in the future government. Others were threatened with the prospect of losing their seats, with the promise kept to a safe position on a future slate.

One day before the confidence vote, Berlusconi threatened that his dismissal would plunge the country into the heart of the crisis of European debt. Given the persistent speculation in financial markets, it would be “political folly, not obvious and credible reasons to provoke a crisis,” he said. At the same time, he offered the opposition Christian Democrats (UDC) positions in a future government.

Several followers of Fini Berlusconi seemed receptive to the demands and threats. Six members of FLI 36 said it was unreasonable to risk a government crisis and that they would vote for Berlusconi’s “deep concern for the country.” Nevertheless, the confidence vote was extremely close, and the session was interrupted when fighting erupted between members.

The portion of the vote of confidence will not solve the political crisis in Italy. Given its limited and precarious majority, the government is barely able to act. Before the vote, Berlusconi’s coalition partner Umberto Bossi of the Northern League had been pressing for early elections. “You can not govern with a majority of one, the only solution is new elections,” he said.

The decline of democratic institutions in Italy in a swirl of corruption cases, corruption and S-EX- has reached a level that triggers only horror and disgust of many voters.

Intellectuals and cultural figures have repeatedly in the streets to express their outrage with Berlusconi. Last Saturday, tens of thousands responded to the call by the Democratic Party (PD) and demonstrated in Rome against the policy of the head of government. “This event will be the beginning of a historic change that will bring an end to Berlusconi,” PD chief Pierluigi Bersani said. People at the event are “Italy tomorrow,” he said.

In desperation by the fact that Berlusconi apparently survives any case and many setbacks, repeatedly returning to power in the past 16 years, many intellectuals to blame the mass of the population.

Best-selling author Umberto Eco told the daily Frankfurter Rundschau, “Many Italians admire Berlusconi, because he’s mad he did what any man would do Italian-play with women and pay no tax. Berlusconi represents their wildest dreams. “As a solution, Eco offers a” moral renewal “of Italian society.

In reality, the responsibility for the persistence of Berlusconi to power is the so-called opposition, led by Democrats, who emerged from the Communist Party 1991.Whenever they were involved in government from 1996 to 2001 and again 2006 to 2008 – they have imposed massive cuts in social programs and attacks against people who work, paving the way for Berlusconi to power.

The “opposition” parties are supported and defended by a plethora of middle class, gathered in the party Rifondazione Comunista. Rifondazione argues that Democrats are the lesser evil, and in 2006, even joined the government of Romano Prodi bourgeois politician breaking with their own political necks. In two years the Prodi government was so disappointed his voters that Mr. Berlusconi was able to return to power in triumph.

The Democrats do not attack Berlusconi for his policies in the interests of rich and powerful. Instead, they fear that the government is not constrained by austerity measures with the same vigor as the PD social democratic friends in Greece, Spain and Portugal. The so-called “left” has moved so far from the mass of the population that is afraid of new elections and prefers to form a “government of technocrats.”

While the xenophobic Northern League pushes for new elections, Berlusconi’s hopes of reelection, the Democrats are hiding behind the fascist Fini, leaving the political initiative for him. “We are obliged to follow the will of the former neo-fascist experience a bit strange,” said Enrico Letta, a prominent Democrat and close associate of former Prime Minister Prodi on Saturday to protest in Rome.

In Italy, the main problem for workers across Europe and the world can be seen most clearly among the established parties, there is not one that expresses and represents the interests of the working class. The reformist parties and programs that promise social improvements, while leaving intact the capitalist system, are all bankrupt. Only an international offensive by the working class on the basis of a socialist program can stop the political and social reaction, so vividly represented in the person of Berlusconi.

I'm Poor but Happy

I'm Poor but Happy - When Callie Rogers won almost £2million on the lottery aged 16, she hoped it would help her put her troubles behind her. The teenager came from a broken home, had dropped out of school and was living in local authority care.

But instead she became addicted to drugs and attempted suicide three times as her life unravelled. She says the money brought her only misery – and now she is down to her last £100,000, she has never been happier.

Now 22, she said: ‘Just a few months ago I was taking too many drugs and hated myself. I simply did not want to live any more.

‘But now I have a new man and am finally becoming the woman I want to be. And it’s only after I’ve spent most of my fortune that this has finally happened.’

Miss Rogers, from Cockermouth, Cumbria, won £1.9million on the National Lottery in 2003. She went on a massive spending spree, splashing out on four homes for her family, flash cars, designer clothes, partying and breast implants.

A fortnight after her win she met unemployed Nicky Lawson, 29. They have a five-year-old son and a three-year-old daughter.

But during their relationship she spent £250,000 on cocaine. She suffered depression and tried to take her life, the final time earlier this year after losing custody of her children because of her mental state.

She told Closer magazine, in which she poses nude with only banknotes to preserve her modesty, that she was determined to win them back.

‘I’ve made an appointment to see a doctor as I need help to deal with my depression,’ she said.

‘I need to get my act together and make my kids proud, and for the first time I really do think that’s possible.’

She credits her new boyfriend with giving her the stable home life she has always craved, and she now hopes to go to college and eventually become a counsellor.

‘After all I’ve endured, I think I have a lot of advice to offer,’ she said.

Taiwan Man 'Marries' Goddess

Taiwan Man 'Marries' Goddess - A Taiwanese man out of luck in earthly love has married a goddess after she ordered him to do so in a dream, a report said Wednesday. The man, identified by his family name Lin, claimed the Lotus Fairy, a Taoist deity, started coming to him in his sleep after he went to her temple to seek her blessing following a series of failed relationships, said CTS TV.

The goddess soon instructed Lin to marry her, and to comply the 40-year-old held a “wedding ceremony” in which a young woman holding a statue of the goddess stood in for the bride, the report said. Lin signed a wedding certificate and presented a ring to the goddess in the ceremony at her temple, which was decorated with red banners, according to the report.

Since the wedding, Lin has moved the statue to his home in central Taiwan to worship her and claimed that his “wife” has protected him from both illnesses and accidents, it said.

90 Pct of Women 'Sexually Harassed in The Workplace'

90 Pct of Women 'Sexually Harassed in The Workplace' - Nine in ten women have suffered some form of sexual discrimination in the workplace, a study has found. A vast majority of women workers have experienced ‘gender harassment’, which includes offensive sexist remarks or being told that they could not do their job properly due to their sex.

This more common, low-level sexist behaviour was just as damaging and distressing as overt advances, experts suggest. The researchers at the University of Michigan found that 10 per cent of the women surveyed had experienced the most severe form of harassment, in which they were promised promotion or better treatment if they were ‘sexually cooperative’.

The study questioned women in two male-dominated environments – the US military and the legal profession. It found that although few were subjected to actual advances, such as being groped, 90 per cent had been subjected to gender harassment.

This included offensive remarks about being female, their appearance, body or sexual activities. The researchers argued that this ‘leads to negative personal and professional outcomes and as such is a serious form of sex discrimination’.

Gender harassment ‘creates a hostile environment that disadvantages women’, they said. Often dismissed as a misguided attempt to draw women into romantic relationships, such behaviour actually rejects women and drives them out of jobs, they said.

The findings, in Springer’s journal of Law and Human Behaviour, concluded that harassment victims fared poorly at work. They were far more likely to develop health problems that affected their performance.

Ba'asyir Held for Al-Qaeda Plot Links

Ba'asyir Held for Al-Qaeda Plot Links - Indonesian police announced the arrest Monday of a top radical Islamist preacher accused of backing Al-Qaeda linked extremists who were plotting a wave of bomb attacks in Jakarta.

Abu Bakar Ba'asyir is accused of involvement in the plans allegedly being hatched by a militant cell headed by the slain leader of Southeast Asian terror group Jemaah Islamiyah and of having an “active role” in their training.

National police spokesman Edward Aritonang said “Al-Qaeda in Aceh” was plotting to bomb embassies and hotels in Jakarta and an independence day celebration to be attended by Indonesia’s president next week.

Ba'asyir’s arrest comes after a series of police raids which have netted over 100 terror suspects nationwide following the February discovery of a training camp for extremists in the province of Aceh.

The bespectacled Ba'asyir, 71, is known for his hardline rhetoric and has been accused of providing spiritual leadership to Jemaah Islamiyah (JI), a claim he denies. He served almost 26 months for conspiracy over the 2002 attacks by JI on Bali nightspots that killed 202 people, mostly Australians, before being cleared and released in 2006.

Ba'asyir was arrested Monday in West Java and taken to Jakarta police headqarters, where he told reporters: “This is engineered by America.” “We’re still finding out what the police charges are before stating our position on this matter — if they’re related to terror activities, what exactly they are,” his lawyer Achmad Cholid told AFP.

In raids in West Java on Saturday, police had arrested five suspects, seized explosive materials in a bomb factory as well as a vehicle belonging to a French national which they suspected could be used as a car bomb.

Police said the Al-Qaeda cell was formed under the leadership of Dulmatin, who was considered one of the masterminds of the 2002 carnage in Bali, and who was killed in March after the discovery of the training camp.

Aritonang said the military training in Aceh, the series of “meticulously arranged and well organised” planned attacks, and the discovery of the bomb laboratory all had a “very clear link” to Ba'asyir.

He said the group had been planning a series of attacks, including using car bombs, on at least two embassies, several international hotels and Jakarta police headquarters. Police said the militants also planned to strike an independence day celebration on August 17 to be attended by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who revealed at the weekend that a plot against him had been foiled.

The plot was inspired by the bloody siege of the Indian city of Mumbai by Islamist militants who killed 166 people in November 2008. Aritonang said Bashir’s role included funding the Aceh camp training and assigning key people to run the operation.

He said police were hunting for the owner of the car found at the bomb lab, where “the bomb seized was tested and found to cause a major explosion”. “We’re working in coordination with NCB-Interpol to find out who is the man and what role he was playing in supporting these activities as he provided the car used to hit the targets,” he said.

Counter-terrorism chief at the security ministry, Ansyaad Mbai, said the Aceh group “is linked with Jemaah Islamiyah and many other extremist groups in our country”. Australia hailed Ba'asyir’s arrest but reserved its comments until a detailed announcement by Indonesia.

The International Crisis Group think-tank said last month that Ba'asyir had returned to the police radar in May, when officers raided the headquarters of his Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT) group in Jakarta and arrested three followers. JI, an Al Qaeda-inspired group whose mission is to create a Muslim caliphate across Southeast Asia, is blamed for multiple terror attacks across Indonesia, including the Bali bombings.

Ba'asyir was jailed by the Suharto regime from 1978 to 1982 for inciting people to reject the secular national ideology in favour of an Islamic state. He founded JAT in 2008 as a legitimate — although radical — body with which to continue agitating for Islamic law and militant jihad.

The United States said last month it would resume ties with Indonesian special forces after a 12-year hiatus, as part of efforts by Washington to reach out to the world’s largest Muslim nation

Lady Gaga Wears Her Most Revealing Outfit Yet...

Lady Gaga Wears Her Most Revealing Outfit Yet... - She dresses to shock so often that Lady Gaga's outrageous outfits are almost becoming boring. But the singer outdid herself last night - wearing nothing more than shorts and T-shirt made of fishnet stockings.

Taking a leaf out of Janet Jackson's book, she preserved her modesty with a simple star as she arrived for the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

But even Gaga didn't risk a stage performance in the risque ensemble. Instead the Alejandro singer changed into a hard-wearing leather jacket and leopard print pants for her stage show - on top of the fishnet.

Gaga is one of the headliners of the annual show, along with Soundgarden and Green Day. The 24-year-old surprised fans when she made an early appearance on stage with her friends Semi Precious Weapons, the support act on her recent Monster Ball tour.

Frontman Justin Tranter told MTV: 'She stood on the side of the stage, and then during the song Magnetic Baby, she started playing drums with Dan.

'Then she started singing backup vocals, then her and I made out, and then she stagedove and then I joined her while she stage-dove.

'And then we made out while stagediving. And then she left. It was pretty amazing.'
